A challenging pleasure tour through the most beautiful places in Bavaria, Salzburg and Tyrol.
Tour description:
From the starting point, you cycle along the cycle path to Seegatterl and then on into the Three Lakes Area of Lakes Weitsee, Mittersee, and Lödensee. On hot summer days, you can enjoy a swim in one of the beautiful lakes in the nature reserve. Enjoy this beautiful area up close and continue on the cycle path until just before Ruhpolding, then continue over the new roundabout to Inzell, via the small town of Weissbach an der Alpenstraße, and Lake Thumsee to Bad Reichenhall. Continue towards Berchtesgaden, past the valley station of the Predigtstuhl cable car, to Schneitzelreuth, and finally into Austria. Continuing through the towns of Unken, you are now in the Salzburger Land region. From Waidring, the federal state of Tyrol begins. Via Erpfendorf and St. Johann, the tour turns right to Going am Wilden Kaiser, home of the famous Standlwirt restaurant. The backdrop of the surrounding mountains is truly impressive. Enjoy the Wilder Kaiser, affectionately called "Koasa" by the locals, with its bizarre peaks, and cycle on to the towns of Ellmau, Scheffau am Wilder Kaiser, and Söll on the "Hohe Salve" mountain. In winter, these are among the most beautiful ski areas in the Kaiser region. In Bruckhäusl, the route continues right to Kirchbichl and the pearl of Tyrol, the small town of Kufstein. The town's landmark is the castle high above the Inn River and the local mountain, Pendling, with its impressive 1563 m above sea level. Enjoy a short while before cycling further via Ebbs and Durchholzen towards Walchsee, a Tyrolean mountain village with the lake of the same name at the foot of the Kaiser Mountains. This wonderful lake also provides a wonderful cooling dip in warm temperatures. The route returns to the starting point via Bichlach and Kössen. There are opportunities to stop for refreshments during this tour.
If the weather is warm, pack your swimsuit. There are plenty of great swimming opportunities along the tour.
