The most beautiful cities around Reit im Winkl

Beautiful cities in the area are popular destinations for day trips for everyone in Reit im Winkl. Whether on a rainy day when the mountains are hiding in the clouds, or on a day when the sore muscles are too sore and there is just enough energy for shopping, a museum or sitting in a café.

We recommend the following cities for a short trip:

  • Traunstein- our district town, 40 km away
  • Rosenheim- in the neighboring district, 50 km away
  • Munich- the state capital of Bavaria, 110 km away
  • Kufstein- am Inn in Tyrol, 30 km away
  • Kitzbühel- hop across the border into Austria, 35 km away
  • Bad Reichenhall- along the German Alpine Road, 45 km away
  • Salzburg- always unforgettable, 75 km away

A stroll through the district town of Traunstein brings variety to the Reit im Winkl holiday. Shops, restaurants and cafes await your visit on the large town square and in the adjoining streets of the old town. There is a particularly nice atmosphere during the annual Christmas market.

If you would like to find out more about Traunstein: There are city tours on literary and culinary topics, on history and nature, and above all on two important Traunsteiners: beer and salt.

The district town of Rosenheim surprises its guests with an alpine atmosphere and Mediterranean flair, whether shopping or drinking coffee in the coffee roasters or cafes on Max-Josefs-Platz. The well-known Lokschuppen exhibition hall offers exciting displays for the whole family.

Day trip to Munich

A tip for rainy days: visit places in Munich that you have always wanted to see. Hofbräuhaus, Allianz Arena, BMW Welt, the Pinakotheken, Hellabrunn Zoo, the famous carillon on Marienplatz are just a few examples, next to shops, cafés and beer gardens.

Of course, big city life also includes the theater, opera, concerts, clubs and bars - on the next day back in Reit im Winkl you just sleep in.

By car from Reit im Winkl about 1.5 hours, there are regular train connections from Prien am Chiemsee or Übersee.
