During the winter months, the road to the Winklmoosalm area is closed to public traffic. Enjoy the solitude and clear air and experience another world – without cars. Yet another reason why this area also appeals to families!
How to get there
Coming from Reit im Winkl, travel toward Ruhpolding for 5 km, you will reach the ski area’s parking lot “Seegatterl.” Once there, you may reach the Winklmoosalm on foot via winter-hiking trail no. 112 (this trail can also be used with cross-country skies) or with the new gondola Seegatterl – Winklmoos.
Our tip:
Cross-country skiers and hikers who stay overnight in Reit im Winkl receive discounted gondola prices with their guest card. The ski passes of course include the gondola ride.

Cross-country and skating:
As soon as the snow turns the mountain sites into a winter fairy tail, it’s time to dig out the skis. Enjoy the high alpine cross-country tracks on the Winklmoosalm. (17 km classic and 27 km skating.)

Winter hikes
On the Winklmoosalm you’ll find many well-prepared winter hiking trails through beautiful winter scenery.
Our Suggestion for you:
Winklmoos loop trail
Take the gondola (reduced prices with guest card), or hike to Winklmoosalm.
On the Winklmoosalm you walk from the parking area to the southwest, past the Sonnenalm and Almstüberl to a fork with a big sign and the start of trail no. 7. The hiking trail runs along this cross-country trail, and returns in a 5 km long loop back to the starting point.
Skiing
The elevation of the skiing area Winklmoosalm/Steinplatte reaches between 1000 and 1900 meters. 14 lifts and about 44 kilometers of well-prepared downhill slopes are awaiting you.
New: Beginning with the winter season 2009/2010 you can reach the Winklmoosalm from Seegatterl with the new 8-person gondola
