Crunching snow, a snowy winter landscape and wonderfully prepared winter trails... What more can the wanderer’s heart desire?

Wonderful winter in Chiemgau

Have you ever tried hiking in the snow? Fresh powder, a winter wonderland and perfectly prepared trails: What more could your heart desire?

We have selected some beautiful tours for you:

Loferau - Grenzsteg

Start at the cross-country stadium at Tirolerstraße, heading south-west parallel to track 3 through Loferauen and Grenzsteg, where you cross the Lofer. Turn left, still parallel to track 3 and through the forest until you see an open forest bar. Make a right after the bar and walk until you reach an open space. There, turn left and head back to the tracks and Krautloidersteg (a good opportunity for a rest). Turn right and walk along the tracks (but not ON them, please) back into Reit im Winkl.

Oberbichl

Start at the cross-country stadium at Tirolerstraße, heading south-west into Loferau. Soon, you’ll cross the Hausbach, walking north along Tirolerstraße, crossing it and heading for the golf course and Oberbichl/Birnbach. As you reach restaurant “Stoaner” turn east to Oberbichl, walking across the golf course. From here, you can either stroll back through Unterbichl or take Birnbacherstraße to Reit im Winkl.

Blindau

Start at the Info Point on Dorfstraße and walk south across the parking space, crossing Weitseestraße. The path runs parallel to the tracks through Loferau and the Krautloiderstüberl, where you can cross the Lofer at Grenzsteg. Follow track 4 until you reach the plateau leading to Blindau. At Benz-Eck, turn left next to the ski lifts on to Alt-Blindau and further along to the forest. Stay to your left and walk towards the parking at Hindenburghütte where you cross the street and the little bridge (please watch out for the sledders!). Cross the little forest to your left, past the jumps and Hotel Gut Steinbach where the Steinbachweg leads you back into Reit im Winkl.

Seegatterl

Start at the Info Point on Dorfstraße. The path runs parallel to track 2 leading to Entfelden. Head right for the tennis center and then left again to Weitseestraße. Cross at the bus stop Donnersgarten and walk past the garages of RVO. After crossing the Lofer, turn right and follow the path to Seegatterl, which runs parallel to the cross-country tracks (please watch out for skaters!). Seegatterl is ca. 5 km away, from there, you can either walk back along the same path or take the bus. If you’re not too tired, you might want to walk on up to Winklmoosalm, which is another 5 km hike uphill from 800 to 1060 m altitude). Just pass the camping site and head right to Forststraße.

Winklmoosalm

You can either walk up to Winklmossalm or take the gondola (discount rates with your Reit im Winkl Inclusive Card). At the top station, pass Zauerteppich until you reach a fork in the path and the start of track 7. The path runs parallel to track 7 for around 5 km, leading you back to Winklmoosalm.

Obere Hemmersuppenalm

From the Info Point, a minivan takes you up to Hindenburghütte, where this beautiful hike starts. After a short uphill part you’ll reach upper Hemmersuppen-Alm; from here, the path describes a wide arc back to Hindenburghütte. Alternatively, you can walk downhill via Nattersbergalm to Seegatterl. In this case, please be careful as skaters also use this trail.

The map of cross-country tracks is very helpful and available at the Tourist Information. It’s free with your Reit im Winkl Inclusive Card.
