Living heritage
…. is the source of cultural variety and is still well and alive in Reit im Winkl. Bavarian dresses and Lederhosen aren’t costumes to be worn for tourists. They are still frequently worn for everyday wear and especially on holidays. This love of heritage is also displayed in real folk music, dances and traditional handicrafts.
You can best experience Bavarian Gemütlichkeit with music, beer and local food by visiting one of the numerous fests. Religious and local heritage often come together at these festivities; for example when setting up the May Pole or at the Corpus Christi procession.
Most customs developed from the ecclesiastical (church) year and they go back to the early Christian beginnings. While only a few customs have totally ceased to exist, most have changed to keep up with the times.
Religious and secular traditions are the base for festivities throughout the year for guests and locals alike.
In addition, modern, classical, sports and international events have long become a tradition in Reit im Winkl.
