Day Hikes in the Majestetic Kaiser Mountains
Where do we hike?
Discover on foot one of the most celebrated areas of natural beauty in the Alps, the Wilder Kaiser. As your local guides we can show you the most beautiful spots there. Hiking along moderately difficult mountain trails with us, you will enjoy fantastic views of this unique mountain scenery.
When do we hike?
From early June through late October we go every Wednesday on a moderate hike, offering breathtaking views into the Wilder Kaiser and every Thursday we venture into the heart of the Wilder Kaiser itsself.
Who are your guides?
Birgit is an examined hiking guide of the German mountaineering school association (VDB) and Walter is a professional mountain guide and founded the only mountaineering school in Reit im Winkl in 1974.
What do you need?
Love of nature and the ability to hike up to four or five hours a day. The trails are far from difficult, you must, however, be reasonably independent and sure-footed in mountainous terrain. We hike in small groups of up to 8 persons.
Registration:
Up to one day prior to hike at the Tourist Information Reit im Winkl.
Price: €
30.- per person, with health resort card (Kurkarte) only € 15.-
Description of the hikes:
Every Wednesday we invite you to hike with us on the sunny side of the Feldberg, first on a broad, comfortable trail and later over narrow, more demanding trails from dairy hut to dairy hut and finally up to a small mountain top. While hiking you will again and again be overwhelmed by the fantastic view of the Wilder Kaiser, opposite. There are, however, also many hidden little treasures for you to enjoy along the trail. This is a hike offering many grand as well as small gems of natural beauty. En route the dairy hut, Ranggenalm invites to stop for a bite to eat or you may prefer to stop at the restaurant Griesner Alm after the hike.
Required hiking time approx. 4 hours.
Thursdays we explore the rugged mountain wilderness of the Griesnerkar. In this cirque framed by towering rock formations we hike up, past an abundance of wild flowers on meagre soil to the tiny Fritz-Pflaum Hütte ( no cattering service ). Depending on fitness and mood we may continue our hike, partly without trail, around the striking rock formation of the Kleinkaiser. After the hike we may stop at the restaurant Griesner Alm for a bite to eat.
Required hiking time approx. 5 hours.
